Ken Burns’ “Country Music” Documentary Gets All-Star Concert

Ken Burns’ upcoming eight-part PBS documentary “Country Music” was celebrated with an all-star concert in Nashville this week. “Country Music: Live at the Ryman” featured performances by Vince Gill, Dwight Yoakam, Dierks Bentley, Ricky Skaggs, Rosanne Cash, Marty Stuartand many more, and was taped for a future PBS broadcast.
The evening featured brief clips from the documentary, which is set to premiere on PBS September 15th, with artists performing live versions of songs discussed in the program.
Highlights of the night included Vince performing Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You,” Stuart performing “Orange Blossom Special,” Rhiannon Giddens’ version of Patsy Cline’s “Crazy,” Yoakam’s take on Merle Haggard’s “Hungry Eyes,” and Cash’s performance of her father Johnny Cash’s hit “I Still Miss Someone.”
The night ended with the entire lineup coming out to sing the classic “Will The Circle Be Unbroken.”
