Lil Nas X Breaks Record For Most Weeks At Number One On Hot 100

It’s official, there’s now a new Hot 100 record holder. Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, tops the “Billboard” Hot 100 chart for a 17th week, making it the sole record holder for the most weeks at number one on the Hot 100 chart.

With the additional week, the tune now breaks the three-way tie for most weeks that it shared with Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” and Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito.” But that’s not the song’s only record. The tune also tops the Streaming Songs chart for a 17th week, surpassing “Despacito." 

  • Elsewhere on the Hot 100, Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” is at two for a seventh week, followed by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s“Senorita” at three, Khalid’s “Talk” at four and Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” at five. 
  • Rounding out the Top Ten are: Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber’s “I Don’t Care” at six, Post Malone’s “Goodbyes,” featuring Young Thug, at seven, Jonas Brothers’ “Sucker” at eight, Post’s “Sunflower (Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse),” featuring Swae Lee, at nine, and Shawn Mendes’ “If I Can’t Have You” at ten.
  • ONE MORE THING! Once news of his new record was official Nas posted a note about the making of the song, and added a big thank you to fans. "I am so thankful this blessing has been placed up on me," he writes. "This song has changed my life and the way i see the world around me." He adds, "Thank you to every single person who has been a part of this journey. As i said before, it is just the beginning." Check out the complete note below:
  • And...Billy Ray also acknowledged the chart milestone. "17 my new favorite number! 17 weeks No 1 Single #OTR 17 weeks No 1 Album #SomeGaveAll," he tweeted. "My goal was always to make music that would touch people's lives around the world.
  • Finally, Mariah Carey took to social media to congatulate Lil Nas X on breaking her record. "Sending love & congrats to @LilNasX on breaking one of the longest running records in music history!," she writes. "We've been blessed to hold this record with a song that means a great deal to @BoyzIIMen and myself and has touched so many. Keep living your best life!" Nas responded by thanking her and calling her a "legend" and an "icon."  Check it out below.
