Taylor Swift is nominated for five American Music Awards this year, but she’s already guaranteed to go home a winner. The singer has chosen as the recipient of the AMA’s Artist of the Decade Award.
If that wasn’t exciting enough for Swifties, Taylor is also scheduled to perform on the show.
Taylor has already won 23 American Music Awards throughout her career, and should she win two more this year she’ll break Michael Jackson’s record for the most AMA wins ever.
- The 2019 AMAs will air November 24th on ABC, live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
In other Taylor news…
- Taylor was interviewed by Zane Lowe for Apple Music where she talked about the slut-shaming she endured pretty early on in her career. Taylor explains that when she was 23 folks were “making slideshows of my dating life,” and also questioning her songwriting ability. “It’s a way to take a woman who’s doing her job and succeeding at doing her job… [and] completely minimize that skill by [slut-shaming her],” she said. “And that happened to me at a very young age, so that was a bit hard. That was one of the first times I was like, ‘Wow, this is not fair.'”
- As for what she tells other artists starting out, she shares, “Anybody who puts anything out into the world, if it has a bit of success now that comes with scrutiny,” she explained, adding her advice is, “I'm like, ‘Do not let anything stop you from making art. Just make things.’”
- Taylor also talked about her album, “Lover,” noting it was “the first time I've written about love that was very real rather than a song like ‘Love Story’ that I wrote when I was 17.”
