New ACM Entertainer of the Year Thomas Rhett admits getting to spend all this extra time home with his wife and kids has been a “blessing in disguise,” but he notes it wasn’t very easy for him to deal with at first.
“I would say the first 30, 40 days into quarantine, I was kind of losing my mind going, ‘I need to play a show. I need to write a song. I need to do something,'” he shares, noting it was his wife Lauren who brought him down to earth. He explains, “And then one day my wife looked at me and she said, ‘Honey, you’re not going to play a show this year. You just need to let it be, and relax and be with our family.”
So instead of touring Thomas has been enjoying time with his three daughters. “This is the most nights in a row I’ve ever gotten to put them to bed and wake up with them,” he explained. “We’ve actually been on a road trip the last few weeks together, and it’s been absolutely amazing just to get to watch them grow up, you know?”
- ONE MORE THING! After Thomas’ EOTY win he took to Instagram to pretty much thank everyone he knows. “Still can’t believe last night was real 🙌🏼,” he posted. “Would like to spend some time thanking every single person that has had a hand in my journey.” He then proceeded to do just that,” adding, “This can not and never will be done alone. What a great privilege it is to share this with so many people that I love. Thank you again to the ACMs and to all of you 💛 #acmawards.” Check it out to the below.
