Brandi Carlile Producing Tanya Tucker Comeback, And Documentary

GRAMMY nominee Brandi Carlile is spearheading Tanya Tucker’s comeback. The singer, who is up for six GRAMMYs this weekend, is not only producing Tanya’s comeback album, but she’s also executive producing a documentary on the singer.

"She’s the most fascinating person in country music right now, and no one knows it,” Brandi tells “Variety. “The world’s going to be like, how did we forget about Tanya Tucker?”

The movie, titled “ Delta Dawn Then and Now: The Return of Tanya Tucker,” follows Tanya in the studio as she records the record with Brandi and co-producer Shooter Jennings.

“I think that it’s time for us to remind the world that she’s influenced a whole corner of country music that no one else has even touched,” Brandi notes. “And we’ve forgotten. To be fair, it might be Tanya’s fault we’ve forgotten. But I think most of us are more than open to being reminded, and that’s why the record’s so f—ing good, and that’s why the documentary might even be better.”
