Clay Walker participated in a memorial service in Houston yesterday for President George H.W. Bush, and admitted he was intimidated when he had to perform in front of the late President before a Houston Astros game.

Clay was singing the National Anthem and did so with the president only three feet in front of him. Clay says Bush was “looking me right in the pupils,” noting, “that’s pressure.”

Clay also performed at Bush’s birthday party and 25th anniversary of his presidency, calling it “one of my fondest memories,” adding that it is one he “will always cherish.”
