The new Johnny Cash documentary, “The Gift: The Journey of Johnny Cash,” directed by Thom Zimny, will debut on YouTube November 11th, and a concert celebrating the Man in Black will go down in Nashville just one day prior.
The first-ever Cash Fest will take place at the War Memorial Auditorium on November 10th with artists like Little Big Town, Midland, Elle King and Cage the Elephant’s Matt Shultz performing Cash tunes.
The event will also feature Perry & Etty Farrell, Judah & the Lion, Cam, Grace Potter, Chris Shiflett, Devin Dawson, John Oates, Lucie Silvas, and more, with fans also getting to see clips of the documentary throughout the night.
Proceeds from the night will benefit MusiCares.
- ONE MORE THING! Did you know Cash was once deputized? Well, earlier this week at the Johnny Cash museum, Nashville Sheriff Daron Hall unveiled an image of the singer’s deputy sheriff commission card. The card was issued in September 1979 by then-Davidson County Sheriff Fate Thomas. The card authorizes Cash to “execute any and all processes that may come into his hands and to maintain the peace and dignity of the State, and arrest any and all persons violating the Criminal laws of the State of Tennessee.” Check it out here.
