As we all honor the men and women who serve our country this Memorial Day, Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley will never forget a humbling encounter he had with a member of the military.
Several years ago Lady A was performing a salute to the troops at the Academy of Country Music and were joined by actual servicemen. One of those servicemen gave him a bracelet that was given to him in honor of one of his fallen brothers.
Charles says he tried to turn it down, telling the soldier, “This is like your friend that died in battle. I can’t do that,” but the serviceman persisted, telling him, “Just trust me, this would mean so much to him.”
