Lauren Alaina’s latest single, “Ladies In The 90s,” has her singing about the female artists she idolized as a kid, like Shania Twain, Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton and more, and she knows she was lucky to be able to hear such powerful women on the radio growing up.

She notes that when she was young it was “an amazing time in country music,” adding that back then “women were so dominant on the radio and so proud to be women.” She acknowledges that in the past few years that’s no longer the case, and admits, “I don’t know how to fix it or why it happened,” but she wishes it would change for the sake of other aspiring female artists.

“I grew up in a time where my dreams could come true because there were women doing it, and I believed I could be a female on the radio and be a songwriter and be a woman on stage,” she says. "All of these women were doing it fearlessly and inspired me to become who I am.”
