Miranda Lambert announced in February that she secretly got married to New York police officer Brendan McLouglin. The couple dated only three months before getting hitched, and Miranda now reveals why she didn’t want to wait.

“I feel like I’ve been through enough in my life to know what I don’t want, so when I know what I do want I snatch it right up,” she tells “People.” Asked whether it was love at first sight, she notes, “I guess so. If that’s a thing,” adding, “I have eight dogs and had love at first sight with them, too. Must be easier than I thought!”

The couple married in January a private ceremony at a farm outside Nashville, and Miranda, whose new album “Wildcard” drops tomorrow, had a very good reason for keeping the wedding between just her and her hubby.

“I was married before, and it was a huge wedding and everything was very public. So was my divorce,” she says of her marriage to Blake Shelton. “I learned then that it’s not for everybody else. This is my actual life. With Brendan, I made it a point to keep it as private as I could for as long as I could.”

The wedding was so private, she didn’t even have any bridesmaids. She notes, “I didn’t have nobody. That was mine and his moment.”

  • ONE MORE THING! Miranda will want to stay up late tonight. The singer is a gest on NBC's "Late Night wiht Seth Meyers" tonight. Plus, fans won't want to miss "The View" tomorrow, where Miranda is also scheduled to stop by.
