Sheryl Crow is set to release her new album “Threads” on August 30th, and she insists it’s going to be her final record, although she does still plan to make music in the future.
“I have loved the tradition and the challenge of making records, but it doesn’t feel like the end of anything,” she tells “Billboard.” “It felt sad for a while when people stopped wanting to pay for music, but I’ve just made my peace with all of it.”
“Threads” features a whole host of special guests including Maren Morris, Joe Walsh, Stevie Nicks and Bonnie Raitt, and Sheryl's proud of it, regardless of what anyone else may think.
“I made the record kind of selfishly, for the experiences and the love of not only what [my collaborators] have brought to me but for the love of the people themselves. I’m still floating on all that,” she says. “I don’t even fool myself into thinking that people will hear it as it is -- unless they buy the vinyl, …If people like it, that’s great, and if they don’t, I’m sorry, but they’re missing out.”
- ONE MORE THING! While Sheryl is done making album, she doesn’t necessarily think young artists should follow in her footsteps. “I would not recommend to any young artist to not make albums,” she says. “Albums are important.” She does add that right now though, “I’d rather do the immediate, which is if I write a great song and feel like putting it out, I can do that and not wait for a full album to be written, recorded, that whole thing.”
